“Manifest”. I hear this word often, uttered by someone who is intent on “manifesting” some particular outcome.

As if there was someone who could do that, who could manifest in something called the “future”.

Who could manifest anything more profound than what is currently and endlessly manifesting right now?

Hide and Seek

The “you” you take yourself to be is seeking enlightenment.

It’s a futile venture because enlightenment is the seeing that “you” don’t exist – never existed.

“You” are a dream seeking what has never been lost. “You” are only seeking the dream of enlightenment.

A game of hide and seek in a dream. Leave it alone and be a spectator from the infinite timeless space that you are.

The Gerund Existence

There is simply THIS, whatever is happening right now.

Reading, typing, sitting, thoughts arising, yawning, pausing, stretching….

In this infinite collection of sight, sound, smells, textures that make up this moment, there is simply activity happening,

And somehow a thought arises, an attempt to stall this living beingness, by labeling you a person with a past and a future. Don’t attach to that idea. You exist as a gerund. You are not the runner, you are the running, you are not the reader, you are the reading, you are not the dancer, you are the dancing…

A Powerful Belief

You are not the “kind and compassionate person”.

You are not the “shy and inept person”.

You are not the “cruel and heartless person”.

You are not any person you take yourself to be. Upon investigation it is seen that the person is a bundle of thoughts, a few catch phrases in the mind. When it is seen that there is no person, then kindness and compassion simply happen and are boundless, shyness and ineptness arise and dissipate, the propensity to be cruel and heartless appear as a phantom in the space of what you are.

A belief in a “me who suffers” keeps kindness and compassion constrained, forces shyness and ineptness to remain as “personality traits”, and is the sponsor of untold cruelty and heartlessness.

Think really hard about it. Then scratch that idea. Because that’s not it.

You can’t imagine liberation. Anything imagined is just thought, arising in the free expanse of what you already are.

Look at it now, that thought, that vision of liberation. Just notice it. In the simple act of noticing you are liberated.

Your mind isn’t going to be quiet. It isn’t going to settle down. Your thoughts aren’t going anywhere, they will always be around.

You cannot wait for your mind to quiet before you realize your true nature.

Don’t be fooled by the infiltration of thoughts after you’ve recognized what you are. They cannot touch what you are. They cannot exist unless YOU are here first. They come and go, making such a racket. They leave so much more quickly with out impetus from you. Their job is to arrive, present themselves then leave.

And you, well, you just nod your head gracefully and note “Ah, I see you, I hear you. I’m not going to get involved. No, thank you.”
